Our goal... to protect, preserve, and enhance vision.
Dr. Whittemore After more than fifty-three years of service to New Hanover, Brunswick, and surrounding counties, Dr. Whittemore decided to take a step back from his busy practice of Optometry. He officially announced his retirement effective November 16, 2005. His collegue of seventeen years, Dr. Jeffrey Coleman, purchased his practice and began assuming the care of a majority of his patients in 2001. Dr. Whittemore encourages you to allow Dr. Coleman to help him by continuing your eye care with the practice at South 16th Street.
Dr. Coleman Dr. Coleman is a native Wilmingtonian and has practiced in Wilmington and Shallotte for over 20 years. Dr. Coleman spent almost a decade in training, graduating from both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Dr. Coleman is married with two children, enjoys music, travel, photography, and personal fitness, recently competing in the Wrightsville Beach Triathalon. Dr. Coleman will continue in the steps of Dr. Whittemore bringing a laid back, down home, friendly manner to the practice combined with experience and up to the minute skills, knowledge, and technology. With his presence we will add expanded hours of operation and 24-hour emergency services. Dr. Coleman is available for appointments Monday through Thursday 8:30am until 5pm.
Fans of live music check out Dr. Coleman's band "The Dung Beatles", a Beatles and McCartney cover band as they play many local venues in Wilmington.
